Freight forwarding is required for most online sellers shipping to Alaska because many air shipments are routed through Canada. As a result, certain items are classified as prohibited during transit and cannot be shipped directly.

Items affected include, but are not limited to:

• Flamethrowers

• Tannerite

• CO₂ airguns

• Pepper sprays or gels

• Long guns sold through private transactions (it is strongly recommended that these be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL)

Some online retailers do not sell or ship stun guns (Tasers) due to internal company policies and seller requirements. These restrictions are determined by the retailer and are not mandated by state law.

Under Arizona law, commercial dealers are required to comply with specific conditions when selling Tasers, including verifying the purchaser’s identity using a government-issued ID and maintaining accurate sales records that are traceable to the buyer.

In Arkansas, state law establishes a maximum allowable container size of 300 milliliters (approximately 10.1 fluid ounces) for pepper spray or pepper gel. However, many national retailers and distributors impose more restrictive limits on the size of products they will sell or ship into the state.

Container Size Limits
Statutory Limit: Pursuant to Arkansas Code § 5-73-124, individuals may lawfully possess, carry, and use pepper spray for personal self-defense provided the container does not exceed 300 milliliters (300 ml).

Retail and Shipping Restrictions: Despite the statutory allowance, many major sporting goods and tactical retailers voluntarily limit sales and shipments to containers no larger than 5.9 ounces (170 ml/cc) for deliveries within Arkansas, based on internal compliance and shipping policies rather than state law.

Magazines

• Standard Capacity Limit: 10 rounds

• Exemptions include tubular .22 caliber magazines and tubular magazines integrated into lever-action rifles.

• Restrictions also apply to any component or combination of parts capable of converting a magazine into a large-capacity magazine.

Requirements for Magazines Exceeding 10 Rounds

To ship magazines exceeding the legal capacity limit, or conversion components, the purchaser or recipient must provide one of the following:

• Proof of active-duty law enforcement status

• Purchase authorization from an exempt organization (e.g., armored car companies or movie production companies)

• Permit to possess and/or transport assault weapons or .50 BMG rifles

• Purchase order from a law enforcement or military department on official letterhead

• Copy of an FFL along with a valid Large-Capacity Magazine Permit

All ammunition shipments must be sent to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) or an approved ammunition vendor, unless the purchaser provides qualifying documentation.

Acceptable documentation includes one of the following:

• Valid Ammunition Vendor License

• Type 03 Curio & Relic FFL accompanied by a California Certificate of Eligibility (COE)

• Proof of active-duty law enforcement status

• Purchase order issued on official letterhead from a law enforcement department or agency

• Purchase order issued on official letterhead from a military department or agency

• A copy of a valid FFL for licensed firearms dealers

Handguns

• All handguns and handgun frames must be listed on the California Approved Handgun Roster, unless purchased by qualified law enforcement or military personnel.

• Roster Exemption: Single-action revolvers with a barrel length of at least 3 inches and an overall length of at least 7.5 inches are exempt from roster requirements.

Assault Weapons

Certain semi-automatic, centerfire rifles and shotguns classified as “assault weapons” under California law may only be shipped to:

• Law enforcement or military departments or agencies, or

• FFL holders possessing a valid Dangerous Weapons Permit

California-defined assault weapons include, but are not limited to:

• Semi-automatic long guns with an overall length of less than 30 inches

• Semi-automatic, centerfire rifles with a detachable magazine and one or more prohibited features, including:

  • Flash suppressor

  • Pistol grip or forward pistol grip

  • Grenade or flare launcher

  • Folding, telescoping, or thumbhole stock

• Semi-automatic, centerfire rifles or semi-automatic shotguns with a fixed magazine exceeding 10 rounds

• Semi-automatic shotguns with a folding or telescoping stock and one or more of the following:

  • Pistol grip

  • Forward grip

  • Thumbhole stock

• Semi-automatic, centerfire “Other” firearms with a detachable magazine and one or more prohibited features, including:

  • Magazine located outside the pistol grip

  • Barrel shroud

  • Flash suppressor

  • Folding or telescoping stock

  • Threaded barrel

  • Second handgrip

National Firearms Act (NFA) Items

Items regulated under the National Firearms Act will only be shipped when purchased by qualified law enforcement or military departments or agencies.

These items include:

• Suppressors (silencers)

• Short-barreled rifles (SBRs)

• Short-barreled shotguns (SBSs)

• Machine guns

• “Other firearm” configurations using shotshells with a barrel length under 18 inches or an overall length under 26 inches

  • (Note: These items may not be federally classified as NFA firearms but are treated as such under California law.)

Statewide Prohibited Sales and Shipping Restrictions ( Most Sellers wont ship these items)

The following restrictions apply throughout the entire State of California:

• No sales of suppressors or silencers

• No shipment of off-roster handguns

• No complete AR or AK receivers

• No non-compliant AR or AK pistols or rifles

• No magazines with a capacity exceeding 10 rounds

• No sales of Tannerite

• No sales of flamethrowers

• No sales of Franklin Armory binary triggers or other binary triggers

• No sales of automatic knives

• No .50 BMG ammunition

• No sales of pepper sprays or gels

• Airguns must be equipped with an orange tip

• Certain third-party fulfilled ammunition is prohibited

Customers are responsible for reviewing and complying with all applicable local and state knife laws prior to purchase.

The standard magazine capacity limit is 15 rounds. Tubular shotgun magazines are further restricted to a maximum capacity equivalent to 28 inches of shotgun shells, while non-tubular detachable shotgun magazines may not exceed a capacity of 8 shells. These restrictions do not apply to tubular .22 rimfire magazines or tubular magazines used in lever-action rifles.

Exemptions and Shipping Requirements
To ship magazines exceeding 15 rounds, or non-tubular detachable shotgun magazines capable of holding more than 8 shells, the purchaser or recipient must provide one of the following forms of documentation:

• Proof of active-duty law enforcement status

• Proof of active-duty military status

• Purchase order issued on official law enforcement agency letterhead

• Purchase order issued on official military department or agency letterhead

• A copy of a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL)

Assault Weapon Restrictions
Certain semi-automatic handguns, semi-automatic centerfire rifles, and shotguns classified as “assault weapons” under Connecticut law may only be shipped when purchased by qualified law enforcement or military departments or agencies, or by licensed firearms manufacturers holding a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL).

Connecticut-Defined Assault Weapons
Firearms classified as assault weapons in Connecticut include, but are not limited to, the following configurations:

• Semi-automatic, centerfire rifles with a detachable magazine and one or more prohibited features, including a flare or grenade launcher, flash suppressor, folding or telescoping stock, forward pistol grip, second handgrip, pistol grip, or thumbhole stock

• Semi-automatic, centerfire rifles with a fixed magazine capacity exceeding 10 rounds

• Semi-automatic, centerfire rifles with an overall length of less than 30 inches

• Semi-automatic handguns with a detachable magazine and a barrel length under 12 inches that also possess one or more prohibited features, including the ability to accept a magazine outside the pistol grip, barrel shroud, forward pistol grip, handguard, second handgrip, or threaded barrel

• Semi-automatic handguns with a fixed magazine capacity exceeding 10 rounds

• Semi-automatic shotguns equipped with a folding or telescoping stock and one or more of the following: pistol grip or thumbhole stock

• Semi-automatic shotguns capable of accepting a detachable magazine

• Shotguns with a revolving cylinder

• Semi-automatic, centerfire “other” firearms with a detachable magazine and one or more prohibited features, including a magazine located outside the pistol grip, arm brace, barrel shroud, flash suppressor, forward pistol grip, pistol grip, second handgrip, threaded barrel, or thumbhole stock

• Semi-automatic shotguns with a fixed magazine capacity exceeding 10 rounds

• Semi-automatic shotguns may not have:

  • Folding or telescoping stocks

  • Pistol grips, thumbhole stocks, or stocks allowing the trigger hand to be positioned beneath the action

  • Barrel shrouds (other than handguards)

  • The ability to accept a detachable magazine

  • A revolving cylinder

Semi-automatic rifles equipped with detachable magazines may not have:

• Pistol grips, thumbhole stocks, or any stock allowing the shooter to grip the firearm directly beneath the action

• Magazines with a capacity exceeding 10 rounds

Rifles with Fixed Magazines

Semi-automatic rifles with fixed magazines may not have:

• A magazine capacity exceeding 10 rounds

Delaware Assault Weapon Sales Restrictions

Certain handguns, rifles, and shotguns that meet Delaware’s statutory definition of an “assault weapon” may only be sold or transferred to the following authorized entities:

• Law enforcement departments or agencies

• Military entities

• Federally licensed firearms dealers (FFLs)

• Licensed armored car companies
